How to Become a CISF Airport Security Officer
Last updated: 7 Jul 2026Reviewed by Ms. Rubab Nizami, Lead AVSEC Faculty
In short
CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) guards most of India's civil airports. To become a CISF airport security officer you clear CISF recruitment (a central government process with written, physical and medical stages), complete basic and AVSEC training, and are then posted to airport security duties such as access control, screening and patrolling.

How to become a CISF Airport Security Officer: step by step
Watch for the CISF recruitment notification
CISF recruits through official notifications for constable and higher posts. Check the CISF/central recruitment portals for the vacancy, age and education criteria.
Meet age, education and physical standards
Satisfy the advertised age band, education (often 10th/12th for constable, graduation for some entries), height/chest and physical efficiency standards.
Clear the selection stages
Pass the written exam, physical efficiency test, documentation and medical examination as laid out in the notification.
Complete basic and AVSEC training
Undergo CISF basic training and aviation-security training, since airport postings require AVSEC competence under BCAS norms.

Does CISF secure all Indian airports?

An honest note
This is a career-information guide. Wings Institute provides aviation-security training only — it does not recruit, place candidates in jobs, or guarantee employment. Salary figures are indicative ranges that vary by employer, airport, city and experience. Hiring, certification and recruitment are decided by employers and the relevant authorities (such as CISF and BCAS-approved organisations), not by us.
Quick answers
Is a CISF airport job a government job?
Yes. CISF is a Central Armed Police Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs, so CISF airport security personnel are central government employees on government pay scales.
Can I join CISF directly for airport security?
You join CISF through its recruitment, then get posted where needed. AVSEC training qualifies you for airport duties, but postings are decided by the force.
