Dangerous-goods Class 9 is miscellaneous dangerous goods. Substances that are dangerous in transport but not covered by other classes — including lithium batteries and dry ice. Its hazard label is a black-and-white stripes diamond showing a seven vertical stripes (top half).

What are examples of Class 9?

Examples include UN 3480 Lithium-ion batteries, UN 1845 Dry ice (carbon dioxide, solid). Substances that are dangerous in transport but not covered by other classes — including lithium batteries and dry ice.

How is Class 9 handled and labelled?

The label has seven black vertical stripes on the top half; class 9 now covers lithium batteries. For passengers: lithium batteries in devices allowed within wh limits; spares in cabin only. dry ice within limits.
