DigiYatra & Biometric Boarding in India

Last updated: 6 Jul 2026Reviewed by Ms. Rubab Nizami, Lead AVSEC Faculty

In short

DigiYatra lets passengers use their face as a boarding credential at Indian airports, speeding up entry and boarding. It is voluntary, live at dozens of airports, and stores the passenger's data on their own device rather than a central database.

Is DigiYatra mandatory in India?

No. DigiYatra is voluntary. Passengers who do not enrol continue to use their boarding pass and ID at the normal checkpoints. Enrolling simply offers a faster, face-based path through entry and boarding at participating airports.

Which airports support DigiYatra?

DigiYatra is live at dozens of major Indian airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai, and continues to expand to more airports over time.

Quick answers

Does DigiYatra replace security screening?
