What counts as flammable substances?

Common examples of flammable substances include Lighters, Lighter fuel, Petrol, Paint, Camping gas. All of them are treated the same way at Indian airport security, so the rule below applies to every item in this group.

Can flammable substances go in checked baggage?

In checked baggage: not allowed. Flammable liquids, gases and solids are dangerous goods and are forbidden in both cabin and checked baggage. In India lighters are banned entirely. If in doubt, pack the item in checked baggage or leave it at home rather than risk it being confiscated at the checkpoint.
