Can I Carry a Medical oxygen cylinder on a Flight in India?

Last updated: 7 Jul 2026Reviewed by Ms. Rubab Nizami, Lead AVSEC Faculty

In short

You can carry a medical oxygen cylinder in cabin baggage within limits. Personal medical oxygen cylinders are tightly regulated and need prior airline and medical clearance; many carriers instead require a battery-powered Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC). Oxygen equipment is never allowed in checked baggage. Arrange it well before you travel.
