Can I Carry a E-cigarette / vape on a Flight in India?
Last updated: 6 Jul 2026Reviewed by Ms. Rubab Nizami, Lead AVSEC Faculty
In short
You can carry a e-cigarette / vape in cabin baggage within limits. E-cigarettes and vapes contain lithium batteries, so where permitted they may only travel in cabin baggage, never in checked baggage, and using or charging them on board is prohibited. Important for India: under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019, e-cigarettes and vapes are banned outright — their import, transport, sale and storage are illegal, so carrying a vape into or within India can lead to seizure and penalties. Many other countries also restrict them — check your destination.
